Every year our CTHOG chapter sets up an overnight to the beautiful Big Bend Region. This is a Wednesday, March 29th departure and returning home on Sunday, April 2nd. The Wednesday, March 29th route (495 miles) will take riders out to Lajitas Golf Resort.  We will set up in accommodations for the nights of March 29th and 30th. Thursday, March 30th will include the traditional Chisos Basin sunrise ride and breakfast as well as the remainder of the day to take advantage of local adventures in Big Bend National Park or other activities such as horseback riding, ziplines, kayaking, hiking, golf, and the list goes on! On Friday, March 31, we will head over to Ft. Davis (195 miles) for some beautiful riding during the day and an opportunity for those interested to head up to the McDonald Observatory for the nighttime Star Party.  The hotels recommended for our members are the Harvard Hotel, Hotel Limpia (Casa West Building), Butterfield Inn and the Drugstore Hotel. For those interested in the McDonald Observatory Sky Party, tickets are available now. Friday nights sell out fast so purchase tickets sooner than later! www.mcdonaldobservatory.org On Saturday, April 1st, we have a free day in Fort Davis which will provide you with the opportunity to tour the Ft. Davis, Alpine and Marfa area. Attractions include the Fort Davis National Historic Site, Marfa Lights, Balmorhea State Park, Big Bend Saddlery in Alpine and more! On Sunday, April 2nd, we'll head on home (420 miles). This event is a Members Only, Level 4 event limited to the first 20 riders to sign up. Make your reservations now for Big Bend 2023.

There are a few ways to experience some adventure in the Big Bend Region.  You can choose your own adventures through various outfitters in the area.  A sampling of adventures available through the Lajitas Resort include:

  • Sunrise Trail Ride $125 pp 9 guests max

Zipline Tours – Seasonal. Helmets are worn by all riders. Closed toe shoes are required attire. All prices are per person, plus 8.25% sales tax.

  •   Must be a minimum of 4 people to ride/ not available during peak weeks.

Once you have made your lodging reservations, please REGISTER HERE for the overnight by clicking on the registration link. Registering for the overnight ensures you receive all communication from the overnight Road Captain and most important lets the Road Captain know you will be joining the ride.

Closed Event: Chapter activities are conducted primarily for the benefit of H.O.G. Chapter members. Closed Events are those events open to Chapter members and one guest per member.  All guests must sign an event release. Be aware, all rides and events are subject to change or cancellation due to weather or other circumstances beyond our control.
