Event date:
Sun, 05/12/2024 - 9:30am to 2:00pm

KSU is at 9:30am.  The Day 5 route will be another short but nice one. With a total distance of only 100 miles we will still see some stuff. We'll start heading out of town to the north, taking 70 then 48 through town. We'll take a left to climb up towards Ski Apache to stop at the Windy Point Overlook for pictures. From there we go back down the mountain and head north again, taking a left off of 48 onto NM 37 up towards Nogal and the birthplace of Smokey the Bear! We'll have to stop and check out where Smokey got his start. After stopping in to see Smokey we'll head east to Capitan where I am planning to stop for lunch at Oso Grill. After lunch we continue east on 380 for. bit, the take a right on 220 and head back in a meandering direction towards Ruidoso. We'll intersect back with 48, make a left into Ruidoso, then make a left on 70 to take us back to the hotel. A short but nice ride day that should leave us fresh for the long ride home.
