Time to make a run out to a great little Tex-Mex place in San Saba. This is one of my favorite rides and I hope you'll enjoy it too. Yes, its August so its going to be hot. Please hydrate. We'll meet up at the Leander HEB with a KSU time of 8:30, make a hydration/bio stop at the Sunoco in Lampasas, and plan to be at Pepperbelly's when they open at 11. Assuming all goes well with lunch we should be back on the road by noon. To limit heat exposure and avoid the road closure south of Kingsland I am shortening the return route. We'll head south on 16 to Llano, then east on 29 back to the QT in Liberty Hill. Total mileage is 192 miles, and we should get back to the QT between 1:30 and 2. Note that when I did the pre-ride there was one very small, wet low water crossing. Don't know if it will still be running when we ride it. Also, along Country Road 223 between Oakalla and Kempner you can really see the after effects of the July flooding along the Lampasas River. Mother nature's power is awe inspiring.
